What are room labels and room markers?

Room markers are big printable signs you tape to doors or walls so movers and helpers know which room is which. Instead of asking “where does this box go?” every trip, movers see a colored sign and drop the box in the matching room.

How to match room marker colors to box labels

Match the color of each room marker to the boxes destined for that room. If the kitchen room sign is orange, all boxes with orange labels or orange accents go to the kitchen. This visual system works faster than reading text.

Where to tape signs

Tape room markers to the front of doors or on the wall next to doorways at eye level. Painter’s tape works well and does not leave residue. If a room has no door, tape the sign to the wall at the entrance so it is visible from the hallway.

For staircases and landings, tape signs at the top and bottom so movers see the destination before they start carrying.

When to use arrows

Arrows on room markers help in hallways, basements, and multi-level houses. A sign that says “Garage” with a down arrow at the top of the basement stairs tells movers exactly where to go. Use arrows when the destination is not straight ahead.
