A quick calibration sheet to check printer alignment before you waste label stock on misaligned prints.
Avery 5164 test print
Print this test sheet to verify alignment before using label stock.
Set your printer to Actual Size / 100% scaling. Uncheck Fit to Page. Print on plain paper first, then hold it behind an Avery 5164 / 8164 sheet to check alignment.
What good alignment looks like
When printed at Actual Size / 100% on plain paper, the dashed outlines should fall exactly where the Avery 5164 labels sit. Hold the printout behind a label sheet — the outlines should match the label positions to within 1/16 inch.
What to do if it is shifted
- Check your scaling: Make sure the print dialog says 100% or Actual Size, not Fit to Page or Shrink Oversized Pages.
- Check the paper size: US Letter is 8.5 x 11 inches. A4 will cause offset.
- Different tray, different alignment: Some printers shift content based on the paper tray. Try the manual feed slot if available.
- Print driver settings: Some printer drivers apply auto-scaling by default. Look for a scaling option and set it to None or 100%.
